Application Timeline

Applications will be accepted through 5 pm on July 11, 2008. Members of the Class of 2009 will be notified by the Selection Committee during the last week of July 2008.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are required to complete the application including the essay portion as established by the Leadership Brentwood Steering Committee. Each year from the pool of applicants, fifteen (15) participants are selcted by the Leadership Brentwood Selection Team.

The participants are selected based on their demonstrated leadership abilities (whether in Brentwood or elsewhere) and commitment to or influence over the Brentwood community regardless of their residency. Leadership Brentwood seeks representation from a cross section of the community including large and small businesses, educational institutions, the arts, religious organizations, government, community based organizations, neighborhood association and minority groups. Class memebers are chosen based on merit and the information provided on the Leadership Brentwood application.

In reviewing applications, the Selection Committee looks for potential participants according to the following criteria:
  • Personal characteristics: motivation, potential, involvement, interest, creativity.
  • Commitment to serve the Brentwood community following graduation.
  • Willingness to make the time commitment required by the program.
Time Commitment
Participants are required to attend 100% of the year's program. There is a full day (7:00am to 7:00pm) program day each month plus a summer retreat, and separate project groups will meet and work together, which is an additional time requirement.

Cost
The cost of the program is $500.00, payable upon acceptance. Employers frequently assist their employees with this cost. Some scholarship assistance is available each year, awarded based on need.
